All 144 pairs at a glance
Scores out of 15. Rows are his Moon sign, columns hers. Where a range shows, the score depends on whether a Sagittarius or Capricorn Moon is in the first or second half of the sign.

Colours: green very good or good; amber mixed; red bhakoot dosha without the usual cancellation.
The Moon sign decides four of the eight kootas: varna (1 point), vashya (2), graha maitri (5) and bhakoot (7), so 15 of the 36 points. The other 21 (tara, yoni, gana and nadi, including the 8-point nadi koota) depend on the nakshatra, so they need birth details. Varna and vashya are read from the groom to the bride, as the texts do; graha maitri and bhakoot are the same either way.
Why the Moon sign, not the Sun sign
Western astrology matches Sun signs. Jyotish matches the Moon, because the Moon is the mind (manas): how a person feels, reacts and settles. Its sign and nakshatra are the basis of guna milan, the 36-point system used across India. Your Moon sign is often different from your Western Sun sign; find yours.
What bhakoot means
Bhakoot (rashi koota) counts how many signs apart the two Moons are. A 1/7, 3/11 or 4/10 relationship, or the same sign, gets all 7 points. A 2/12, 5/9 or 6/8 relationship gets none: that is bhakoot dosha. Many astrologers cancel it when the two signs share a ruler or have rulers that are friends.
