Sun in Jyotish
In Jyotish the Sun is the king among the planets and the significator of the soul. A strong Sun gives confidence, leadership, good health and the favour of people in authority; a weak or afflicted Sun shows in low vitality, ego problems and difficulty with the father or with superiors.
Friends and enemies
| Natural relationship | Planets |
|---|---|
| Friends | Moon, Mars, Jupiter |
| Neutral | Mercury |
| Enemies | Venus, Saturn |
These natural (naisargika) relationships, from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, are not always mutual: the Moon counts Mercury a friend, while Mercury counts the Moon an enemy.
Sun in your chart
Where Sun sits in your chart (its sign, house, dignity and the planets it joins or aspects) shows how these significations work out for you, and its dasha shows when. See your Sun in your free kundli, or read chapter 3: the 9 planets.
