Privacy notice

What we collect, why, and your rights. In short: our calculators run on your own device, and the only personal details we hold are the email addresses of people who join our letter.

Who we are

LotusAstro is run by Tushar Gupta, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@lotusastro.com.

The LotusAstro letter (email sign-up)

• What we collect: your email address, the date and time you signed up and confirmed, and which form you used. Our email service also records whether you open emails and click links, to tell us what readers find useful.
• Why: to send you our letter: horoscopes, auspicious timings, articles from the classical texts, new free tools, and news of our reports when they launch.
• Legal basis: your consent. You confirm it by clicking the link in the email we send after you sign up; until you confirm, we send you nothing else.
• Who stores it: our email service, Kit (Kit.com, Inc.), on our behalf and under a data processing agreement. Kit is based in the United States and certified under the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which UK law treats as giving adequate protection.
• How long: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe we keep only your email address on a do-not-email list, so that you are never emailed again by mistake. If you never confirm your sign-up, we remove your address.
• Unsubscribing: every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us.

We never sell or share your email address, and we do not use it for anything else.

Our calculators and the panchang

• Your birth details are not sent to us. Kundli, matching and the other calculators run entirely in your browser. To save you typing, your browser may remember the last details you entered, on your device only; you can clear this by clearing your browser’s site data.
• Your location. If you allow it, the panchang page uses your device’s location to calculate local times. The location is used only in your browser and is never sent to us. Your browser remembers the place you chose, on your device only.

Cookies and website data

• We set no advertising or tracking cookies, and we use no analytics that track you across sites.
• Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic technical data (such as your IP address) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
• Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@lotusastro.com and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.

Changes

When we add new services (for example member accounts or paid reports), we will update this notice before they launch and change the date above.
