Aries in Jyotish
Aries is the 1st sign of the zodiac, 30° from 0° to 30° of the sidereal zodiac. It is a fire sign, movable (chara), and ruled by Mars. In the body of the Kalapurusha, the cosmic person whose body is the zodiac, it is the head.
Sun is exalted here (most strongly at 10°); Saturn is debilitated here (most deeply at 20°); 0°–12° of Aries is the moolatrikona of Mars.
A movable sign starts things and moves on; a fire sign is energetic and direct. As your lagna or Moon sign, Aries colours the whole chart with these qualities and with the nature of Mars.
