Kemadruma yoga

An isolated Moon, and the conditions that cancel it.

Formed when
No planet (leaving out the Sun, Rahu and Ketu) is in the 2nd or 12th house from the Moon
Cancelled when
A planet is in an angle from the ascendant or from the Moon (and by several other conditions in the texts)
Source
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra; Phaladeepika

Kemadruma is the most feared of the Moon yogas: an isolated Moon, with no planet on either side to support the mind. The texts describe hardship, dependence on others and sorrow.

It is also one of the most often cancelled. Phaladeepika and later works list cancellations; the one used most is a planet in an angle (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) from the ascendant or from the Moon. A Moon that is bright and aspected by Jupiter is also said to remove it. Our free kundli checks the angle rule and says whether it is cancelled.

We include it because people search for it and are frightened by it. In our count over 2,000 random birth times, it appeared in 46% of charts and was cancelled by the angle rule in all but about 1 in 30 of those charts.

Does your chart have it?

The free kundli finds this yoga and the others on this list in your chart and says which planets form it.

Sources: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (Pancha Mahapurusha, raja, dhana, Sunapha, Anapha, Durudhara and Kemadruma yogas) and Phaladeepika (Gajakesari, Adhi, Amala, neecha bhanga and the viparita yogas). The results are summarised in our own words. A yoga gives its result in proportion to the strength of the planets forming it, and mainly in their dashas.
