Neecha bhanga raja yoga
When a debilitated planet’s weakness is cancelled.
- Formed when
- A planet is debilitated, and the lord of that sign, or the planet exalted in that sign, is in an angle from the ascendant or from the Moon
- Other cancellations
- The texts list several more, such as the debilitated planet being exalted in the navamsa
- Source
- Phaladeepika
A debilitated planet is weak. But Phaladeepika says that when the debilitation is cancelled (neecha bhanga), the person can rise high, even to a king’s position: a raja yoga made from a weakness.
The cancellation most used is the one our kundli checks: the lord of the sign of debilitation, or the planet that is exalted in that sign, in an angle from the ascendant or the Moon. Einstein’s debilitated Mercury in Pisces is cancelled this way.
Does your chart have it?
The free kundli finds this yoga and the others on this list in your chart and says which planets form it.
Sources: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (Pancha Mahapurusha, raja, dhana, Sunapha, Anapha, Durudhara and Kemadruma yogas) and Phaladeepika (Gajakesari, Adhi, Amala, neecha bhanga and the viparita yogas). The results are summarised in our own words. A yoga gives its result in proportion to the strength of the planets forming it, and mainly in their dashas.
