The 6th house in Jyotish
The 6th house, Ari bhava, governs enemies, disease, debts, litigation, service and competition. In whole-sign houses, the house is the 6th sign counted from the ascendant; its sign, its lord, the planets in it and the planets aspecting it together describe these matters.
Its natural significator (karaka) is Mars and Saturn. Parashara’s rule is to judge a house from its lord, from the planets in it and from its karaka together.
It is a dusthana (house of difficulty); an upachaya (house of growth), where malefics do well; an artha house. Planets ruling or occupying it need care in judgement; its lords placed in other dusthanas can form viparita raja yoga.
