The 8th house in Jyotish
The 8th house, Randhra bhava, governs longevity, sudden events, inheritance, hidden matters, research and the occult. In whole-sign houses, the house is the 8th sign counted from the ascendant; its sign, its lord, the planets in it and the planets aspecting it together describe these matters.
Its natural significator (karaka) is Saturn. Parashara’s rule is to judge a house from its lord, from the planets in it and from its karaka together.
It is a dusthana (house of difficulty); a moksha house. Planets ruling or occupying it need care in judgement; its lords placed in other dusthanas can form viparita raja yoga.
