The 4th house in Jyotish
The 4th house, Sukha bhava, governs the mother, home, land, vehicles, happiness, the heart and basic education. In whole-sign houses, the house is the 4th sign counted from the ascendant; its sign, its lord, the planets in it and the planets aspecting it together describe these matters.
Its natural significator (karaka) is the Moon. Parashara’s rule is to judge a house from its lord, from the planets in it and from its karaka together.
It is a kendra (angular house), a pillar of the chart; a moksha house. Benefics placed here strengthen the chart; the lords of kendras and trikonas joining form raja yogas.
